Saturday nights. Relax in Oriel's MCR with fine cocktails and the ambience of retro music. Our official menu consists of nearly 100 mixed drinks, and our modest collection of spirits can accommodate hundreds more recipes. Even better, we sell our drinks for almost half the cost of any other cocktail venue in Oxford. Our staff are volunteers, dedicated to the love of the craft. Research is integral: we’re always on the lookout for new and old recipes, always delving into what makes a drink tick.
With a careful eye to the history of mixed drinks, we serve a number of exceptional vintage cocktails unavailable anywhere else, and we construct the classics according to tradition rather than fashion. We carefully alter contemporary recipes to maintain a taste of each ingredient rather than a glass of sweet syrup, we insist upon the right spirits and brands for the right drinks, and we always squeeze fresh juices for each evening. Cocktails are, after all, works of art, craft, and tradition.
